Voice Description
My voice is a deep, resonant bass. (Think James Earl Jones.) I generally speak and sing in the baritone range. (In the morning, though, I am a bass.)
I am comfortable in front of a microphone, camera, or live audience. I think my voice is best suited for a "voice of authority," such as in documentaries, narrations, commercials, phone systems, and public service announcements.
For animated films, I can offer a number of character voices.

My Voice Experience
In 2010 I had a gig performing three different character voices during the Civil War, for the city of Alton, Illinois. They are being used for a museum and walking tour to celebrate the city's sesquicentennial.
In 2009, I voiced the lead hero, (Admiral Bei) in the PC game, "Blue Planet."
In 2008, I voiced the lead villain (Admiral Marcus Glaive) in the PC game, "Silent Threat: Reborn."
Since 2008, I have been under contract as a voiceover talent for the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, NJ, and narrate their Tests of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). I have also done commercials for WIAT-TV in Birmingham, Alabama.
I have done work as an on-air moderator for AT&T presentations, as well as "industrials" for Johnson & Johnson and M&M/Mars Corporation. One of my voice-overs for Johnson & Johnson, entitled "Historically Black Colleges & Universities," won a 2004 Communicator's Award in Washington, D.C.
My Training
My voice training began early in life. My father was a dentist and civil rights leader in lower NY State. I grew up listening to him practice and deliver speeches on a regular basis. My mother had done local theatre and radio (WNYC). From about the age of nine, when I had to give my first big speech on "Brotherhood Week" to the entire elementary school, my parents drilled me on projection, pacing, diction, intonation, and eye contact until I could perform that speech, or any other, in my sleep! It was the first of many lessons which helped me to develop my voice.
Over the years, my voice and confidence before an audience matured. I was asked to narrate and host a variety of major high school events, including our football team's half-time shows. Participation in high school and college plays, a voice and diction class, and formal drama classes also helped me to develop my vocal skills.
In college, I was a campus DJ and newscaster. I also performed regularly as a singer and guitarist in a coffee house, playing folk and folk/rock music.
As an adult, I have used my voice as a teacher of psychology, as a corporate trainer, and as a professional facilitator for nine years of my professional life. I hold a Masters degree in General/Experimental Psychology and a Bachelors degree in Psychology.

Additional Skills
I appear as a "featured extra" (non-speaking) in the film: "Trophy Kids."
Apart from my entertainment background, I have worked in the corporate world for over 27 years. Of those, 15 years were with AT&T as a Member of Technical Staff (Bell Labs), Member of Programming Staff, Education Specialist (trainer, course developer, and quality consultant), and Staff Supervisor. This was followed by 12 years as a Manager of Technologies and e-Learning at Johnson & Johnson World HQ.
As for hobbies, I play both classical and folk guitar. I love to sing and harmonize, and I used to dabble at keyboards and recorders. I love Baroque and Renaissance-period music and used to compose chamber music and theme pieces. I am a "Writer" member of ASCAP.
As a published poet ("Wind & Autumn Leaves"), I have also used my voice skills to do readings of my work.
I look forward to learning about the requirements of your project and to helping make your ideas a reality. I thank you for your interest.
