My Voice Experience
I have done comedic spots where I was two different people in the same commercial, one straight and one silly or difficult. Car commercials where I was a fast talking, high energy salesman for a damaged credit radio ad, a smooth 30 something music lover for a musical instrument company, a jealous husband for a new restaurant ad, Series of Podcasts aimed at informing young college students, a suave and sophisticated gentleman to introduce a senior beauty pageant, an approachable, friendly, and approachable narrator for a school crossing guard training video, Whimsical and fresh VO for the Burton Gulliam Day announcement, Southern gentleman for an ad based on "The Core Of Discovery", and more...
My Training
I am a musician, composer, and arranger. I have had 10 years of private study in Classical Piano alone. My studies also include jazz and jazz theory. In 1989-99 I attended National Broadcasting School where I learned to write commercial copy, voice over, and edit TV and radio commercials. I also owned a small multimedia project studio from 1995-2002 where I had opportunities to write radio commercials for a number of companies and work on speculative voice over projects. I did all of the media production and voiced all of our own company ads. I wrote television copy, and performed PSA voice overs for Allen City Television during a 2008 internship. I voiced five individual podcasts, each 5-7 minutes long, for The Collin College CS&CWE student podcast program. I edited PSA television commercials for ACTV, as well as shoot video for live outdoor events.
I recently completed my AAS, in Music, Commercial Music, Collin College 2008 and minored in video production. I am efficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and In Design. I am fluent in Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, and Digital Performer. Due to my training and experience in audio engineering, I am capable of preparing my own voice overs for broadcast. I was awarded Master Communicator from the Collin College speech department and am a creative writer.
My Studio Equipment
I use a Rode NT2-A microphone into a Motu Ultra-Lite via firewire into my Apple PowerBook. All projects are captured and edited on a 500GB Lacie Raid. I do all of my voice over recording and editing on Digital Performer at 24 bits/96kz. All signal processing is performed digitally. I use Motu Symphonic and Reason for my samples and Sibelius for compositions. I listen to all of my projects on Yamaha 50s near field monitors and Sennheiser headphones. I use a Yamaha 88 key piano and a Edirol controller for data entry.
