My Voice Experience

With over 18 years experience in broadcast engineering, announcing, production, and instruction, Jamal Dakar (a.k.a. J.D. Walker) has done it all. In addition to various positions as Audio Operator and Producer in which he engineered live and pre-recorded broadcasts, commercials, and news and traffic reports, JD served as Instructor, Engineer, and weekly radio show host for 18 years at WBAU-FM Radio housed at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. As engineer and host of WBAUs The Overnight Flight, a long-running multicultural program featuring jazz, R&B, and rap, JD researched and interviewed a number of artists, including Onajee Alan Gumbs, Dwayne Kerr, The "Smooth One"- Carl T. Smith,Tyrone Jefferson, Carla Cook,The Original Spinderella, and Paul "Sequence" Ferguson. A natural teacher and mentor, Jim taught courses in broadcast and studio operations; FCC rules and regulations; and news writing, editing, and announcing to broadcast students at Adelphi University. He is proud to name among his talented former students Percy Williams, former host of a popular weekly gospel music show on New Yorks WRKS-FM. and WBLS - FM.Percy Williams is currently hosting a weekly Gospel program, "PRAISE" on the Sirius Satelite Radio Network Channel 68 JD eceived extensive education in marketing and communications at Adelphi University along with hands-on training in automated broadcast operations from WPAT Radio in Clifton, New Jersey, and WCTO-WGSM Radio in Huntington, New York.
