Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I can do a number of different characters: a nerdy scientist, an inebriated British gentleman, a "Gandalf the Grey"-ish baritone authoritarian, a Southern dandy, a Mexican day-laborer, and others.
My Voice Experience
None - I'm just getting started. I have always wanted to do voice but have been too self-conscious about how I sound (to others) that it didn't seem like it could be a reality until I asked people (not friends or family, but people who have no interest in sparing my feelings!) and was told that I have a very deep, soothing voice. I have recorded and listened to myself doing other voices and I - my worst critic - am satisfied.
My Training
I have a Cinema Studies degree from New York University, with a minor in Film Production.
My Studio Equipment
I have an iMac with a Snowball microphone and GarageBand music software. Pretty low-tech, I know, but if I get work, I plan to upgrade to more serious hardware and software.
Additional Skills
My current line of work is in insurance sales. My voice puts people at ease and inspires confidence. Before that I was a manager for a rent-a-car agency, and I am a veteran of the United States Navy.
Some skills that have proven useful: writing, using various applications in Microsoft Office, sales, business management. I have an eye for visual aesthetics and I shoot video on the Canon Vixia HV-30.
Hobbies: if I had all the time in the world, I would shoot video and make music. I love to read and I have seen over four thousand films. I am also into physical fitness - I am very strong and I have a big frame.
