My Voice Experience

I have been a singer-songwriter for 26 years, 7 of those years in live performance; In my home studio, i have created a guided meditation CD that has gotten rave reviews from those who have listened to it--they have inevitably said that my voice was so soothing, they never made it to the end of the meditation without falling into a peaceful slumber. I have also used NeuroLinguistic Programming techniques to record 5 guided meditation and affirmation CD's for various people, tailored for their needs.

I have been a D.J. at a college radio station, where i created my own voice characters and interacted with them from recordings off the board, i conducted interviews with guests, wrote, performed and recorded a few jingles. I have helped teach several people how to sing; I am told frequently by friends and acquaintances and a few times, even by strangers--that i have a great phone voice, and they call me sometimes just to hear it, especially when they are stressed, because i can always make them feel better (this might also be partly due to WHAT I say, as much as HOW--but still, delivery is everything, no?) Additionally, as an author, i often read my books aloud to insure quality, and this often means taking on several voice roles of characters.

Most of my training has been a result of doing, as detailed above. I have a BA in Professional & Technical Writing, and also took broadcasting in college, and worked as a volunteer at the radio station where i learned many aspects of the radio production and on-air environment.

Additional Skills

i have a 16 track digital recording pod in my home, and have produced, engineered, and recorded two full CD's of my original music. I have also written and recorded a guided meditation CD, which i give away to anyone who i think might benefit from it. I am a freelance Editor & Writer, and also an author with 8 books in print under the small press, LightSwitcher Books. I publish this way because i can do my own editing, typography, book design, as it is important to me to put out a quality product, and i have found that others don't seem as concerned about that. I am also a mixed-media artist and have recently gotten back into clay and pottery. I have designed and built 5 websites for other people, and have several of my own which i have maintained for 11 years.

My best friend and I are also working on a project to convert our books and writings to audio for charitable donation to blind schools and visually impaired institutions and individuals.
