Voice Description

My normal speaking voice is characterized by its subtly deep and gruff texture balanced against warm, rich tones suitable for a variety of tasks, ranging from audio book reading and narration to engaging announcements. Although my normal speaking voice does not carry a significant regional accent, I am capable of a wide variety of accents. My American accents include (but are by no means limited to!) Minnesotan/Norwegian, Redneck, Southern, and Native American. My Overseas accents include British (high-brow and lower-class), Irish, Scottish, French and Asian. I also have developed a wide variety of Character Voices, both self-created characters and impersonations of people and cartoon characters. Some of my more notable impersonations are of characters such as Shaggy and Scooby-Doo (of Scooby-Doo), Tony the Tiger (of Frosted Flakes), Dr. Girlfriend (of Venture Bros.) and That Movie Announcer Guy (from the previews... you know the one I mean.)
Additionally, I am well versed in Korean and speak with a faintly American accented Seoul Standard accent. I am also able to speak Korean with most of the accents I can speak English with.

My Voice Experience

Although I am just starting in the realm of voice overs, I am not totally inexperienced. Throughout High School, I was involved in theater and my director took pleasure in casting me in parts requiring accents. In some plays, I would be cast in multiple bit parts, just so she could use my accents and characterizations to the fullest. In 2002, I competed in South Dakota's state High School level One-Act play competition with my school and received a "Best Actor" award for my portrayal of the salty, yet insecure, Captain Hook in a One-Act parody of Peter Pan. I have spent the last 5 years as a Korean Linguist in the United States Air Force. Currently, I utilize my talents making intercom announcements and MCing for various functions within my squadron. At work, I am often introduced to people as "The Voice," as I have become the unofficial voice of my squadron.

My Training

Although I have no formal training in the voice over industry, my interest in voice over work began in 1996 when I was in Middle School. I took up Oral Interpretation (also known as Declamation) and received award for my reading of such pieces as Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven." I continued Oral Interp. until my High School graduation in 2002. From 1998 until 2002, I was also heavily involved in High School theater, doing such plays as Aladdin (I played the genie), Auntie Mame (I played five small parts), and Pete's Feet (a Peter Pan parody in which I played Captain hook.)
In July 2007, I completed my AA Degree in Communications Applications Technology through the Community College of the Air Force.
