Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Here's a few impersonations: Mickey Mouse, The Grinch, Smeagol/Gollum, Napoleon Dynamite, amongst dozens of others.

However, the real trick is to layer different placements to create unique timbres to every character. Understanding where the character is coming from, and who they are, is all it takes to create that unique voice to fit them.

My Voice Experience

My greatest voice over experiences have actually not been in voice overs.

Creating a pleasant cheerful commercial voice is as simple as recalling my time spent as a waiter. No matter how negative the customer may be, you had to be chipper and positive about everything. The more you relished on the fact that the cookies melt in your mouth, the easier it was for them to order it. Being a waiter was invaluable experience in that sense.

Many other inflections I have gained over my years of teaching. Every different scenario needs a different approach. You wouldn't talk to a sobbing 9 year old girl the same way you would lecture a group of 11 year old boys. Being able to quickly adapt to change is key, and I find a lot of that comes out when reading copy. You wouldn't read a commercial script the same way you would read a narration for a documentary.
