Voice Description

My voice is in the middle register for women. In singing I am capable of both the popular belt and can remain entirely in chest voice as high as a B flat. I also have some classical training and can produce a dramatic soprano sound. I have been told that the ability to switch between these two sounds is quite rare. For narration I use a personable, relatable, but matter-of-fact voice. I'm very fond of using comic news caster voices, but am also very apt at using true, straightforward professionalism. English is my first language and I speak and write Parisian French. I am able to do varying Southern accents (deep South, Texas,) different Midwestern ones (Michigan, Indiana, Chicago,) Brooklyn, as well as various British accents and a Scotts Glascow accent. I can also do the little known accent of a true French person speaking English in addition to the less accurate but more commonly used one.

My Voice Experience

I performed the role of Martha in a production of the musical 'The Secret Garden' put on by the Festival Playhouse of Kalamazoo Michigan. I'm a greenhorn when it comes to professional voice work, but I've done several voice overs for amateur documentary narration. Also, I am a fiction writer and have performed my works in dramatic readings before audiences in the past.

My Training

I have taken a few theatre classes, including a voice and diction class which focused on perfecting pronunciation and breathing techniques. Here I focused my attentions on the standard American English accent as well as the Scotts Glasscow accent. I am mostly self-taught with the help of recorded lessons by David Alan Stern. I have had some classical singing training at Kalamazoo College in Michigan where I also studied English literature, creative writing and documentary film.
