Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Now in Meredith's words:

I can be a cougar and a kitty, a hot woman, an exotic woman, a sultry woman, an unapproachable bitch, a nag, an obnoxious Jewish (East Coast) wife, a very aggravated wife, a raging psycho, a loving mother, father, wife and/or child (of either sex), a stoned woman or man, a punk teenager, a screaming teenage daughter, a generic New York City man or woman, someone hailing from New England, a Wisconsin/Minnesota native, an animated robot, a high-pitched,loud, nails-on-chalkboard girl, gal, or guy, a toy doll, a groupie, a druggie, a loser, and a porn star. I can sound British, Australian, Latino-American, Spanish (of European Descent), Chinese-American, Indian-American, Middle Eastern native that moved to America, Long Island New Yorker, etc.

My voice and vocal performances can be jacked up or toned down, reflecting and defining a variety of characters in most of the aforementioned accents and dialects. I can do cartoon voices and characterizations, impersonations ranging from the already-established cartoon characters of then and now, to Franny The Nanny.

I make an excellent psycho-sounding woman or man, a convincing distressed person, a monotonous Ben-Stein-Like character, and everything in-between. I can be peppy and persistent, sometimes sounding like the anxiously-crazed mothers of children in Texas beauty pageants. Similarly, I can be a valley girl, a cheerleader, I can appear stoic, and most of the time, sultry and powerful enough to put the "rock" in "rock and roll!"

My Voice Experience

I'm a "rock music chic ninja juke box hero." To put it simply, I'm a two time "Whatzup Magazine Radio Personality of the Year." I am fueled by the passion I experience in capturing and delivering the emotions we are all familiar with. I can go from sounding like a cartoon catfish to a schizophrenic flamingo in a matter or minutes; then switching things up again to reflect the voice of a very intense oceanographer/reporter narrating a documentary about the Beluga Whale's journey to find a mate.

Experience:

I have done radio promos/imaging for a former classic rocker in New Mexico and television spots for KUTV in Salt Lake City, UT.

To be completely honest, I have been at the center of a study related to the VO industry that has not yet been named but DEFINITELY deserves some attention. The chaos that has surrounded both my personal and professional life over the last year has been more of a self-produced and directed media production with the "human condition" serving as the core. The emotional range inherent in losing a job and becoming completely disconnected from all of the social platforms people communicate through (due to internet/television/phone catastrophes has forced me to not only discover the wide range of voices I can perform under duress; but to also discover myself. My "communication breakdown" has inspired creativity that I have thoroughly documented in cell phone videos and in very passionate conversations with others both in and outside of this industry.

When times felt tragically impossible and forward momentum seemed to come to a sudden halt more than once, I exploded (steam coming out of ears and all) then retreated to my cave to watch "The Family Guy." I watched and re-watched the behind the scenes parts of the DVD's that focused on the conception of the show to the final product, with a special focus on all of the voice actors and actresses doing their respective lines. I imitated them, re-created scenes, practiced doing my own voices, and proceeded to educate myself in very-versatile ways by reading articles on voice acting, humor, psychopathy, and the differences in humans.

I listened to internet radio stations, live streams from across the country, and the advice and critiques of well-respected consultants, musicians, business owners from various disciplines, and other radio industry insiders. I took notes, talked with various talent finders, and contacted all of the people I had worked with that could offer advice. I continued to step my own product up eleven notches and I now have a much clearer vision of what I want, where I need to be, and the execution of the big goal. I do indeed hear voices long after the microphone has been shut off but I think that is delving into something else entirely. I plan to write an all-inclusive memoir to serve as the prequel to what is going to be my life's work.

My Studio Equipment

Access to a professional recording studio, software including Adobe Audition, a complete CD/Sound FX library amongst all the other bells and whistles necessary to create radio/television/movie voice-over magic.

Additional Skills

The turnaround for my work is very fast in all areas. This encompasses more than the ultimate delivery; taking into consideration the knowledge, interpretation, and culmination necessary in creating art. I can act, react, relate, imitate, create, and truly please any client/audience I am working for or in front of, giving each respective party more than my best each time I crack the microphone. I have worked with people from all walks of life and for some reason, I am able to speak their often diverse "languages." I am the voice of reason in most situations. Whether the topic at hand is dark comedy, light tragedy, ecstasy, morbidity, or simply a conversation between friends, it ends up sounding exactly as it should.
