My Voice Experience

I have a bachelors degree in Media Communications, and in the past have concentrated more on writing rather than considering doing voice overs, however I've recently had the experience to do some voice over spots for a local non-profit TV program, and I quite enjoy doing it. I've also done some on-camera announcements as well.

My Training

I earned a bachelors degree in Media Communications for the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)in 1985. Since then I've held various jobs not directly related to media broadcasting, although after college I did work for a few years in advertising for a small firm. Most of my experience comes from my involvement (voluntary) in various non-profit organizations, primarily those promoting Czech-American heritage. I have written newletters, done public relations and publicity, written newspaper articles, etc. For 2 years I was editor of the VA employee newsletter, that was a paying position, as part of my job in Human Resources. I no longer write the newsletter, but I am still currently employed part-time for the VA, at Hines VA Hospital.

Recently I've been appointed as Director of Public Relations for Czech-American TV, where I have done several voice over spots as well as on-camera announcements.

Additional Skills

I have great people skills, am articulate and have strong written and verbal communcation skills. My heritage has kept me fluent in Czech and somewhat fluent in German. As a member of the Moravian Cultural Society I teach Czech folk dancing for our children's group and serve as Publicity Director for the organization.
As a member of the American Sokol Organization, I teach two children's gymnastics classes.
