My Voice Experience

Ian Wilson Ross is owner and operator of Boolean Studios, a sort of catch-all project that encompasses composing, recording, voice-over, production, and sound for picture. Ian's voice-over talent has been heard on numerous local radio commercials, as well as an animated short film (for which he also provided music and sound design).

When partnering with Boolean Studio, clients can reap the rewards of Ian's many years of audio experience. Ian can also provide custom music and sound design, record and edit his own voice-over work, hire and coach additional voice-over talent, and deliver the final product in a variety of formats.

Most recently, Ian has recorded two radio PSAs for Unity RI, a local non-profit. This included sourcing and coaching VO talent, performing VO narration, and recording. He has also done similar work for the RI Coalition Against Domestic Violence in the past year.

My Training

Starting with a degree in Sound Recording from UMASS Lowell, Ian has - over the past ten years - steadily gained experience and broadened his horizons in all things audio-related. He started doing voice-over work partly out of necessity, and it has quickly become another vital service offered at Boolean Studio. Though he is self-taught in this skill, Ian has a natural and smooth voice, with excellent articulation and projection. When combined with his fastidious attention to detail, these qualities make Ian an ideal choice for many voice-over jobs.

My Studio Equipment

Ian operates his own studio - Boolean Studio - in Providence, RI. The main recording platform is Cakewalk Sonar 7. Over the years, Ian has amassed a collection of gear, including dynamic, ribbon, and condenser microphones, unusual synthesizers, and outboard equipment. Ian also uses Sony Soundforge for editing, Vegas (for video projects), and various sequencing programs (Fruity Loops, Ableton Live).
