Back in the UK since 2005, Hugh has recorded several TV commercials, done voiceovers for the BBC TV series World Cup Stories, and presented internet radio shows on Radio Basingstoke and CMR Nashville (as Baron Rock).

From 1990, Hugh was a top voiceover artist in Hong Kong, working for film production houses, radio stations and even the Hong Kong government, as well as English language publishing houses like Pearson Education, Longman and Oxford University Press. He appeared on RTHK's Educational TV programmes and TVB's Pearl channel, and played a host of characters in the animated TV series Cone Control, Crocos and Kangoos. In 2004 he dubbed the comic voice of Fat Man Shum in the first 3-D animated feature film to be made in Hong Kong, Dragon Blade (see imdb).

From 1990-2000, Hugh was employed as a presenter and producer at radio stations RTHK, BFBS and Metro Broadcast. He read the news, wrote & produced station trails and presented the Hong Kong Today show, as well as music programmes like Hugh Terry's Big Country and Weekend Breakfast.

Hugh also worked on news stories and features and contributed pieces on sport and the arts to TV & Entertainment Times, the Hong Kong Standard and South China Morning Post. In 1997, he appeared in the BBC radio documentary drama The Hong Kong Holding Company and in 1998, the BBC Radio 4 production of Bleak House, which won a UK Sony radio award.

In his spare time, he also acted and produced stage and radio dramas (Kiss Me Kate, Absurd Person Singular) with the BBC's Ariel Theatre Company and Studio Drama Group, co-editing the latter's in-house magazine Buzz and being voted Actor of the Year playing the title role of Dracula (1987).

Hugh played Monsieur Cot in Hotel Paradiso at Reading University (1984) and twice starred on the Edinburgh fringe with the Oxford Revue – in 1981 and '84 (also playing lead roles in a new musical, The Silver Lining, and Fenton Bailey's Supermarket), these appearances sandwiching jobs in children's touring theatre companies.

In the Oxford University Dramatic Society production of Six Characters in Search of an Author he appeared as Madam Pace at Oxford's Playhouse theatre, and was the Baroness in the Sound of Music and Algy in The Importance of Being Earnest for Balliol DramSoc.
