Voice Description

For narration and presentations I am clear and articulate, with the ability to bring warmth and accessibility to dry or technical copy. For commercials, I range from upbeat and friendly with great comedic timing, to wry and sarcastic. I'm also excellent at performing commericial copy that requires polish and gravity, for PSA's, political ads, etc. For animation, I have a wide range. I can perform well in several character accents, and I'm a great mimic for voice matching needs.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

My professional speaking voice is nearly accentless, standard "Midwestern", my native accent is Mountain/Southeastern KY, think "hillbilly". I also perform well in the Standard Southern accent, and am skilled in a variety of other dialects, including the Minnesota/North Dakota, accent, Standard British, Eastern Euopean, and Scottish, French, and German.

My Voice Experience

I have enjoyed doing many types of VO work over the years, from IVR (as a young adult I used to be asked by every company I worked for to record their outgoing announcements!), to ADR on commerical and industrial work in which I have performed on camera, to commercials, audiobooks, children's projects, and many narrations for corporate videos and industrials. I can be heard on narrations/promos for The Disney Vacation Club, The Kettering Health Network, APIC Annual Conference promotional materials, The "Epic Universe" audiobooks series (created by Lee Stephen) as both Russian and American characters, as well as Lee Stephens' new Audio sitcom series as various characters. I enjoy all types of VO work, and am fortunate to be flexible in my offerings.

My Training

I obtained a BA in Theatre from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY in 2001, and have had a lifetime of performing experiece, both theatrical and musical (choral and solo). In Los Angeles I have studied the curriculum of Braintracks Audio, with Nancy Wolfson as a private coach.

My Studio Equipment

I have a high-quality USB mic, and use Audacity to record and send recordings. I can send files via email or FTP.

Additional Skills

I am a skilled vocalist and on-camera actress. Yet, I understand the differences between VO copy and on screen copy. I know how to use my voice effectively in many different ways, and because I'm an actress, I can make even the driest copy approachable, and am great at creating good VO characters.
