Voice Description

People have often said that I have a 'distinctive' voice. It is an authentic English voice, which can be warm and gentle as well as more dynamic or authoritative when needed. I take pains to enunciate clearly and am a perfectionist when it comes to the finished product.

I am able to adapt my voice to suit a range of purposes. The demos show that I am able to be versatile with my voice and play on different strengths depending on the style required:

Otter Appeal: Professional but empathetic with the cause.

Credit Solutions: Engaging, clear and friendly.

Horror Narration: Dramatic and with a sense of fun.

Guided Tour: Informative, documentary style, with the ability to come across as an authority on the subject.

Accents are not my strongest point, but I can do amusing characterisations of slightly camp men, elderly men and elderly ladies!

My Voice Experience

2010 - I recorded six demonstration tracks as part of Gary Terzza's Voice Over Masterclass, all of which can be heard here.

2005 - I did a voice-over training DVD for Lufthansa, explaining to Lufthansa staff how the new check-in system was going to work.

Additional Skills

I am able to speak French and German and have some experience of using my voice to convey messages in foreign languages, as I gave a guided tour of a stately home in French in 2009.

I also have a strong interest in history and have edited two local history books on Uppingham in Rutland.

Between 2007-2008 I worked in a call centre on behalf of a well known charity, speaking to customers all day, reassuring them and giving them important information in order to assist with their enquiries.

I have acted in many theatre productions, from musical theatre to Shakespeare to pantomime, and have directed musicals, straight plays and pantomimes.

I believe my interest in languages, the arts and heritage would make me especially well suited for voice-over work on this subject (e.g. the Gothic Architecture demo).
