My Voice Experience

From 1994 through 1998 I was the sole female voice talent for the 'Bradfield Properties Sunday Morning Home Show', in San Antonio, Texas. I wrote and performed the voiceover for a minimum of twenty scripts per week. Every house is essentially the same, and my specialty was finding a way to make each home description sound unique and irresistible. My goal was to capture and keep the attention of every bleary-eyed TV viewer at eight am on a Sunday.
In 1999 I began working for IKEA in Seattle, doing filmwork and voiceover for their in-house training videos, special events coverage, and local in-store commercials.

In 2005 I became the in-store voice of IKEA Seattle. If you are shopping inside the store, every thirty minutes you will hear a recorded voice booming through the overhead speakers. That's me! I write, produce and voice every ad, ranging from upcoming store events to Swedish trivia to IKEA's environmental endeavors.

I have also done several voicemail greetings and on hold messages.

My Training

I am also a stage actress- I spent many years performing in a Shakespearean repertory company as well as an improv comedy troupe, and have performed in everything from the Classics to contemporary drama to children's theatre. My initial training to be a voice over actor came simply from spending every moment possible growing up speaking on stage.

When I began filming real estate for a living, part of the job became doing the voice over portions of the TV program as well. I was trained by my filming partner, and I learned on-the-fly and from a great deal of practice and trial and error.

What it came down to is just hundreds of hours of practice. I am also a writer, which makes me a stickler for perfection when it comes to interpreting a written script into an audio piece.

I do a lot of work with animal rescue and rehab, and I donate my time (and whatever else I have that may be useful) toward the support of several sanctuaries and rescue organizations.
