My Voice Experience
My first tape recorder was made by Fisher Price, so basically I started recording and replaying my voice at a very young age, probably around five or so. I was often harassed in school to keep doing a voice that one of my classmates may have overheard me using to tell a story or joke. "Do that voice again," became a middle name of sorts.
After high school I and a close friend had a radio show in the 9PM - 12AM time slot which included some characterizations, but was mostly mild banter, weather, campus updates and song intro/outro's.
After getting a bit tired of radio, I moved back East and did some work in a rock band and also did IVR, voicemail, phone-messaging systems for local businesses.
Currently I do a lot of public speaking, mostly in reference to the restaurant and wine industries, and have done some stage comedy on the side with a handful of talented local personalities, which has opened up my characterization portfolio once again.
My Training
Self-Taught and all natural, although I did have a singing coach during the early teen years when my voice was changing a little.
My Studio Equipment
Have only recently been recording on my computer at home. Have access to a couple recording studios in town, though.
Additional Skills
My professionalism is key. I understand that deadlines are made for a reason, which is why I often have my work completed well in advance for the purposes of re-edit. As long as the task in front of me is clear, and the lines of communication between myself and the client are open, there's nothing we cannot do successfully.
