Over the last eight years, I have engineered, produced and installed various virtual guide systems on vessels and in land based tourist attractions.
I would now like to offer my services to a broader and more exciting field. Please visit my website at avalissen com to hear more about the virtual systems.
I'm afraid, I have no qualifications in anything. I went to the University of Life. Everything that I know about recording, engineering and mastering has come from experimentation, trial and error. I had never thought of presenting soundscapes before the necessity arose within a company I was working with. I was building the guide system and to save time I simply used my voice for the initial trials in the attraction,..(to get the timings and durations correct)...my voice stayed and is still being listened to on a daily basis.
I have also, always completed my own research and created my own scripts where possible as I find it very rewarding. It is however, much easier when presented with a clients own requirements, and is also more challenging reading something not written for your own mouth.
I have a home studio and supply all tracks in wav or mp3 formats. I usually record raw,(without my digital preamp) because our accoustics are good and my mic is designed just for studio voice. The mic in itself produces a pure and 'quality' sounding signal that requires very little additional warmth/body if any at all. I always record in 16 bit stereo at 44100hz and can produce files as waves, mp3, ogg vorbis or flac, although Ive never had a requirement for the latter two.
