Voice Description

deep, resonant, exceptionally clear, unique, very distinctive, crisp. I've been approached in public by people who've commented on my voice. Some comments include: A very rich, full voice. Over the phone, many of my clients have remarked that my voice was very recognizable and unique. I speak in a very concise and clear voice with good inflection, whether serious, humorous, formal or informal. I have traveled and met people who've asked where I'm from, remarking that my voice does not have a regional marker.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Primary, native language was German, spoken almost exclusively at home. Learned English (started at six years of age) when our family moved to Canada and then to the United States. My English may be described as Continental. SPEAK mostly in formal American English. I can add a British (formal or informal) inflection or German (formal or informal) inflection. I enjoy and have a good ear for the different sounds of language, so I can speak in a varied scale of American or British formal and regional dialects, as well as a similar range in German.
I can speak in a wide range of international dialects, and easily read foreign language material and speak in that language with proper pronunciations. As an example, I could read French or Spanish and then speak those languages without English (American) inflection. I enjoy doing impersonations or characterizations in a variety of dialects. When I read a book where the author is writing dialogue, I can easily pick up and mimic the dialect. I can speak like an Oxford-educated barrister, or a Louisianian farm hand.

My Voice Experience

While I have no formal training in voice-over work, much of my work experience involves customer-relations, specifically over the telephone. My speech patterns are easily able to convey humor, seriousness, inquisitiveness, instructional or any appropriate delivery of information or query. I use accents or dialects in story telling. When I read a story out loud, I will do the characters in dialogue or mimic.

College credits at Pierce Community College in Woodland Hills, California, studying architectural drafting and illustration. English literature studies and geo-political studies. Widely traveled. I have a strong interest in film production and have worked in video and film production, writing, directing, editing, narration, and producing educational material for the transportation, bicycling and medical industries.
