My Voice Experience

For over thirty years, I have rarely been at a loss for words; I’ve been too busy. My fascination with broadcasting began when I was a teen-ager at a radio station in my hometown of Jamestown, Tennessee.
After pursuing a degree in English from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, I put in time as either a d.j., news director, music director, or program director for stations in Nashville (WMAK), Knoxville (WKGN), Murfreesboro, Tennessee (WMTS), and then in Pensacola, Florida (WBSR), and Huntsville, Alabama (WAAY).
In the mid-seventies, I returned to Nashville and WSM AM/FM, and was in position to play a key role in the development of the country-music television industry. In 1981, I was selected to announce/write Nashville Alive, a weekly variety show produced by WTBS/Atlanta. When TNN launched in 1983, I was there as the announcer for Nashville Now, and later co-hosted Video PM for the network. From 1985 to 1991, I acted as co-host of the syndicated telecasts of three FARM AID concerts, announced two years of HEE HAW, and still hold the grand-slam record of announcing The Academy of Country Music Awards, The Dove Awards, The TNN-Music City News Awards and the CMA Awards, all in a SINGLE season!
I have been busy with multiple commercial and industrial projects as a free-lance talent, including over 600 consecutive, live telecasts on Saturday mornings for a Nashville automobile dealer on Newschannel 5, and a continuing assignment with one of the big four accounting firms. I have also recently been involved with a radio campaign for Nashville author Darren L. Johnson and joined The VOice Team in Nashville.
