I have used my voice initially for radio spots and talks shows at a local radio station during my first radio internship in Ohio. Served in the US Navy as a technician where I studied Russian, back when reel to reels were the rage. Learned Andalucian/Castillian Spanish while stationed overseas. Later after my service ended I often used Spanish while working as a Tri-lingual 411 operator.
I am an ancient and military history buff like my ex-military father. As a child I was exposed to algebra, science, history and lots of Sci-Fi via television. My parents also bought books for me and often would have me read them aloud to them. A lot of my early reads were from books by Paul Anderson, Frederik Pohl, Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick and many other sci-fi authors, with some James Baldwin thrown in.
I worked for my high school newspaper as a reporter, graduated high school and did a year internship at a local radio station here in Ohio. I then served in the US Navy as a Russian/Spanish linguist stationed in a Mediterranean country.
At one point I studied Business Admin, but later switched to Mass Communications and specifically TV and Radio production; I found both interesting and fun.
I have and still do study the Voice Over industry online under Susan Berkley (one of my mentors), Bill Rapp and Lonnie Hogan of Suchavoice and I also have studied and use available materials from Edge Studios.
In my home studio I have built and use multiple Ubuntu Linux as well as Windows computers which I use to record and edit. I do my own editing, and I prefer GoldWave audio editing software primarily but also use Audacity.
I prefer Blue microphones, and I most often use the Blue Yeti Pro and or the Blue Snowball.
I repair and build computers as a hobby and sideline and I am familiar with common technical, scientific, radio, TV and sci-fi jargon. I have always loved sounds, and from an early age played with editing sounds for use on friends computers.
