My Voice Experience
It all began a long time ago in college. Being a Drama Minor, I often tried to study voices and vocal techniques. One day, I was walking along, minding my own business and suddenly BAM, this dude ran into me! As I turned to see who it was that so discardingly bumped me, I quoted the famous words of Rodney Dangerfield, "Get no respect here!". Without realizing it, I had stated this in Mr. Dangerfield's voice.
The chap spun about and said, "Wow! That was pretty good! Do another!" So, with hesitation, I did Alf and Yoda. He said that I should do this at a campus event. However, I chose not to.
Several years later, I started a live production company. Producing a variety of different types of shows for theme parks and other venues, I did all of the pre-show and narrative voice-overs myself. Each show had a different theme, therefore each needed a different voice.
Recently, while working a job at Kennywood Park near Pittsburgh, I was walking along with my boss, goofing off as usual. The name of another show producer had come up and I simply did the guys voice! My boss about lost his mind! He said, "I almost thought I was talking with the guy." He then encouraged me to try doing impressions.
Currently, I am studying a variety of voices such as Arnold Schwartzenager, Bill Cosby, William Shattner, Christopher Lloyd, Tim Allen, and several cartoon characters. I am also working on some vocal sound effects.
