Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I am a natural mimic. I can perform American Southern accents, from the smooth genteel drawl of the "Old South" to the distinctive twang of Appalachia, I can perform the various accents of New Yorkers (whether they be the guy who runs a news stand in Brooklyn or a Wall Street Power Broker), Boston's distinctive accent, as well as the accent that is particular to the mid-west. I am also familiar with the differences in dialect in various regions, such as the fact that the phrase "Do you want your pop bagged?" means completely different things in Cincinnati and New Jersey.

I am also very skilled at non-US accents. I an perform English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh (which is distinctly different from Irish or Scottish), as well as French, Italian, Jamaican, Spanish, Mexican, Cuban, and Russian.

At present my impersonations include James Earl Jones, Bill Clinton, John Wayne, Peter Lorre, Robert De Niro, Scooby Doo, Shaggy, Elmer Fudd, Jack Nicholson (but, who doesn't do Nicholson?), the South Park kids, Yosemite Sam, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and others. I am working on Barack Obama, John McCain, and Joe Biden but don't have them perfected just yet.

My Voice Experience

To be honest, at this point, i don't have any voice over experience.

My Training

I do not have any formal voice over training, but have been interested in the industry for a long time. I have trained myself to control the tone and timbre of my voice.

Additional Skills

While I don't have any direct voice over experience, I have been making a living with my voice for over eighteen years. As much as I hate to admit it, I was a telemarketer for about six years, and used my skills to improve my sales. For example, when calling customers in Virginia, I found affecting a my smooth "southern gentleman" voice tended to improve sales. This was also true of using the Brooklyn accent when calling New York. As a customer service supervisor for a major credit card company, I found that irate customers could quickly be defused by the voice they heard on the other end. "Country Joe" (a pretty average fellow with a bit of an Appalachian accent) or "The Welshman" (a thoughtful gentleman with a Welsh accent and a thoughtful way of speaking) brought more customers back to civility than any apology alone.
