My voice can sound authoritative and motivating for corporate presentations, warm and informative for narrations, calm and compassionate for charity appeals, relaxed, friendly and conversational for on-hold messaging, smooth and light hearted or classy and sincere for commercials. I can assimulate and process information quickly and my diction is clear.

My Voice Experience

Voice work: BBC Radio reporter, news reader, interviewer and presenter. Being in front of a microphone is second nature to me.

I was stage struck as a child and as a consequence went to a school where I studied drama, dance, art and music. Later I was drawn to radio journalism, working as a news reporter in BBC local radio. This gave me daily access to microphones for the purposes of news reading and reporting, interviewing and radio presentation. I wrote scripts for features, which I would voice-over in the studio. I later became a producer at BBC Radio based in London producing 'live' news and magazine shows and responsible for giving guidance to programme presenters.

My Training

Drama diploma in London. The 2 year course included weekly classes with a voice coach to improve diction, clarity and resonance.

Diploma in radio journalism and radio presentation including microphone techniques.

Presentation skills workshop.

I attended drama college where I had a voice coach and a drama teacher, both obsessed with diction and resonance and the actors ability to reach an audience at the back of the stalls.

I trained as a radio journalist and worked as a news reporter and presenter at BBC Radio where I spent many happy hours in front of a microphone.

Last year I undertook a voice-over training course in London. This was followed by a voice-over Masterclass with Gary Terzza who recorded my voice-over demo. Garry is an experienced voice-over announcer for Channel 4 Television in the UK.

Additional Skills

I have had experience in a number of fields including the performing arts, newspaper and radio journalism and horticulture. I have worked in a variety of environments from the theatre to large corporate organisations such as national newspapers and the British Broadcasting Corporation. I have been an employee of a big company, in charge of radio production teams and now, in contrast, I am self employed.

I have a science degree in horticuture and now work as a gardener. I have studied Italian so those complicated latin names trip off the tongue. I have also recently studied French.

My gardening work keeps me fit and I like to walk in the beautiful Sussex countryside. I enjoy theatre, film, dance and art exhibitions. I have visited many European countries, travelled to a number of Southern African countries and been on holiday to New York and recently to Miami Beach, Florida.
