My Voice Experience

As an actor, I have been trained to use my voice in many different ways and to convey a variety of emotions and intentions. I have studied with a voice teacher and keep my voice healthy and sharp through daily exercises.
As a former teacher, I have experience using my voice to educate, inform, negotiate, and to be authoritative to get a specific message across to the listeners. In addition, I have a recorded demo, done through an agency where I worked with the vocal coach and audio engineer on staff. As a former journalist, I have also used my voice in voice overs for public service announcements on local television stations.

I have had a few seminars in voice overs as well as working with an audio engineer to complete a demo. I have also studied with a Linklater Teacher in voice to "free" up the voice through relaxation in order for it to have a more spontaneous response and emotional life. As an actor, I have been trained to warm up the body, and rely on my ability to vocalize to "perform" a piece, to and to create an emotional life. I have also trained in singing and have learned other ways to present a rich and full voice while performing and how to maintain when I am not performing. As a former journalist who also went to Journalism school, I was well trained in broadcast delivery, writing and delivering copy.

I have a mac book pro with a microphone and garage band as well as soundtrack.

Additional Skills

I am very astute at writing and delivering copy. I am of African-American descent and can easily make a piece more urban. I am very flexible with my voice and can fit a a different "ethnic" group for specific markets. I have a very good ear and learn melodies fast if it is for a very extreme specific region as well as a more traditional "midwest" dialect as well.
