Voice Description

I've got a great ear, as my principle profession is a touring musician. My voice has an extremely wide range, allowing me to be a booming announcer or an uptight new yorker. I've got a great sense of presence on the microphone and can be smooth and sexy, upbeat and funny, a little off the wall (think a Bill Murray type voice) and on and on. I also have a knack for picking up accents if you can give me source material... as I said, I've got a great ear. I'd be available for any sort of voice talent, voice acting, podcasting, on-hold messaging, or whatever would be required for me, and can range from a prim and proper businessman to a ragin' teen surfer to a bumpkin from the back woods instantly.

My native language is english, but I've lived in France for two years and speak it fluently with a solid European accent.

My Voice Experience

My principle experience has been live work as a host of a weekly event in Charlotte, NC where I use my voice and person to entertain between acts, typically 20 - 25 times a night.

I was selected, in large part (according to the audition judges) because of my vocal presence, to be the commencement speaker in 2002 at UNC Charlotte.

I have also done voiceover work for Muzak LLC for their messaging on hold, and as a professional musician I use my voice as a tool to keep the crowd amused between songs.

My main reason for pursuing this line of work at the moment is because I have injured my leg and cannot perform the typical construction activities I have relied on to support my music. This being said, I am confident in my abilities and I believe if you listen to my demos you'll agree. I have been stopped at gigs and asked if I do radio, I've had a voice over producer (who's card I unfortunately lost) begging me to call, and I'm constantly told this is something I should pursue, so here I am.

My Training

I was a theater rat when I was a kid... something my mother encouraged me to do after I developed impersonations of people such as Paul Harvey, Howard Cosell, and Bill Cosby. In addition to Theater, I started choral singing at a young age, touring with a number of different professional children's choirs.

As I got older I had a number of professional singing jobs, I always mimicked folks, from friends to cartoons to singers that I dug and I've never stopped. I've been training my ear my entire life, and the pairing of my ear and my voice is a *very* strong pairing!

I am a gifted singer and songwriter, and would be happy to consider writing, performing, and/or producing jingles. I also play the guitar, the banjo, and the harmonica and I have a network of musicians I can tap into.
