Voice Description
I possess a smooth, yet energized speaking voice in the baritone range.
For narration, I am warm and flowing, for presentations, brassy and confident.
When I perform characterizations, I am capable of rendering a diminutive, frightened mouse or an unfathomably ancient demon king and any and everything in-between.
As I render technical narration, I am crisp, clear and rhythmic in a way that keeps dry material from getting stale and makes interesting information stand up and sing.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
The foreign accents; Scottish, Irish, French, German, Russian, Asian, Indian, British, Australian.
The American dialects; Boston, New York, Northeastern (think Maine Coastal), Midwestern, Southern, Western, West Coast, Native American.
The moods; Happy, surprised, curious, nervous, fearless, quizzical, demanding, haughty, pleading, silly, boisterous, and so on and so on, et cetera, et cetera.
Whatever feeling the dialogue requires, I can make happen, and do it all in whatever type of accent, gender, age, even species, is needed in the moment.
My Voice Experience
I have recorded more than 35 audiobooks through the Utah State Library for the Blind and Disabled. Typically, I am given the fantasy and sci-fi books, as to best exploit my penchant for voice characterizations. Going from voicing a drunken ogre, to a mischievous pixie, to a nervous sorceress, to a haughty knight in the space of a minute has allowed me to develop the range and flexibility needed for any and all types of voice work.
While living in Chicago, I was involved with various performance groups, primarily as a narrator or voice actor. I would record audio to be used for different characters during live performances to augment the performances of players wearing costumes that would not allow for effective speech.
My Training
Scott Shurian, veteran voice actor, group and private lessons.
