Emily Bartsch

Character Specialist

Voice Description

I can imitate different dialects of north america: from southern belle to northern new yorker,to mid-western and valley girl. I can speak in a high "helium" sound to a very deep sound. I can sound very young, hip and energetic for commercials and radio. But I can also sound soothing or like a heavy smoker. I have a neutral accent which sounds great for presentations and PSA's. I can be over the top or be very subtle. I absolutely love doing all types of character voices.

My Voice Experience

I am a newbie to the industry but after watching Pixar moives and my Experimental Theater class, I was encouraged by my friends and professors to actually try pursuing my dream to be a voice actor. I realized that my whole life was filled with my many "alter egos" and it brings me great joy to make others laugh while listening to a story or scene that I perform.
Through my internship with Surf 98.3 Wilmington's New Rock, I was given the chance to read multiple public service announcments for the Pink Ribbon Fund, local events and fundraisers. I also had the opportunity to speak on air and off the cuff.

My Training

Held a production internship with Surf 98.3 Wilmington's New Rock in Wilmington, NC where I got experience working the board and also creating House of Blues spots and PSA's.
I was in the musical Ebenezer: The Christmas Carol, playing the role of Belle, directed by Frank Trimble.
I took Experimental Theater in 2008-09 where I further devloped my acting skills and accents.
As a Communication Studies major, I had multiple public speaking assignments, on camera work for other classes, and Advertising and Marketing classes.

My Studio Equipment

Adobe Audition 2.0, types of microphones- ElectroVoice RE20, access to music bites.

Additional Skills

This past summer I taught English in Croatia for two months. While there I hung out with Croatians and Bosnians and a large group of British people. I worked on my accents with them and got first hand experience listening to the differences in each of their voices.
While attending the University of North Carolina Wilmington, I recieved 1 of 15 Senior Medallion Awards that recognized outstanding leadership and involvment from the 1,500 graduates.
I'm a self motivated and driven individual with a great zeal for life. I enjoy making others laugh, especially by using my voices to add to the humor.
Being a Communication Studies and Studio Art major, I combine my creativity with my excellent public speaking and interpersonal communcation skills to develope my character and commercial voices.
