My Voice Experience
Though I'm new to the industry, my experience to voices stretches over several years. I've always been good at doing impressions of unique voices or even inventing my own to suit characters as a child when I would play "pretend", or while stage performing in musicals during school. It was actually my sister's idea which brought the talents to my attention and got me into the industry. Only throughout the last year have I actually been doing recordings, I have recorded radio commercials of every type for Blackburn Radio (100.7 the rock) and have provided a number of voices to various live productions within my community, which is still ongoing, I really am just getting started. I recently attended a voice over workshop in July, which really launched this big move forward into professional recording. Since I live in a community where artistic talents are not often required, the powers of the internet were the best way to promote myself and my abilities to better the entertainment industry.
My Training
I have an 11th grade education from Walkerville center for the Creative Arts, I'm currently in my 12th year. This past July I attended a workshop, held by Micheal Dobson of Makena sound studios (25 years of voice over experience), in that workshop the most important thing I learned about recording voice overs is that the actor is in charge of every aspect of the character he is given, rather than having a director tell you what to do. I was also taught to keep your performing level of energy at it's highest point at all times, regardless of how tired you may actually be. An actor's creativity is needed much more in the voice industry than in live performances (in my experience). In my other training, I am enrolled in the enriched dramatic arts, vocal, and musician programs in my school. Besides my vocal talents I have an extensive musical background.
My Studio Equipment
I own my own audio recording equipment, recommended to me by a friend who mixes television audio M box 2 mini, Pro tools LE 7.4, Apex 435 condenser mic. I also own an Ibanez electric guitar, but I don't think that really matters. My mic is Phantom powered and has a shock mount. I use Sony MDR-XD100 headphones which provide crystal clear, studio quality results.
Additional Skills
I have had extensive musical vocal training and have done various performances using both this skill and my vocal acting skill.
