Voice Description

To say my natural voice is "deep" is an understatement; you can feel the bass in your bones. However, I am by no means a one-trick pony only capable of "Voice of God" reads and the like, though I am quite used to those types of roles. Physically, my voice is capable of sounding like Mickey Mouse just as much as James Earl Jones. Range is one of my strongest assets. Ultimately, though, the real voice of Elliott Calo the person is a deep, resonant one.

My Voice Experience

Though I went to college for film and television production, it quickly became apparent that above all my technical prowess, it was my voice first and foremost through which I gained recognition. In my freshman year at NYU, I acted in eight radio dramas and narrated two student documentaries. Since then I did voiceover work for three student animation films, one as a narrator and two as character voices, in addition to numerous student projects.

After getting a sense of the voiceover industry as a whole while interning at Don Buchwald and Associates in 2009, I started putting myself out there in the professional world. My first audition was for Sierra Mist and I immediately recorded a demo commercial for them. I also did character and narration work for educational videos through nVision Inc. in New York (this was all prior to any professional coaching of any kind).

Now with that training under my belt, the sky's the limit for what types of project can come to life with the help of my voice. I've narrated a play, recorded several animations, promos, and am currently working on an iPhone app spot.

Received a BFA in Film and Television from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 2010. Pertaining to voice over, the course load included several classes on audio recording and editing with ProTools, as well as acting classes.
