My Voice Experience

In 1985, I was working for an nationwide insurance company with a small budget for training and a talented, creative employee with the idea that videos were the future of employee training. He asked me to be the on-screen talent, and we worked together for the next 6 years on everything from management training to sales training to orientation videos for new employees. In 1991, I left the company and went to work for a Fortune 500 paper manufacturer. Shortly after beginning there, the company initiated a contest for the "voice" of their organization -- an inhouse talent to do all the automated telephone recordings. The system included both general routing throughout the company and a TeleMerchant system for customers to check on and order paper stock. I entered and "won" -- and maintained the position through 2 corporate takeovers, eventually leaving the company in 2008. During that time, I also provided voiceovers for several videos, for both internal and public viewing.

My Training

I have a Master of Arts degree in Communication. My undergraduate had an advertising emphasis; my graduate work emphasized popular media. In addition, I have several years of vocal training -- low alto - high mezzo range. I've been involved in acting, directing, and writing scripts for over 30 years and am currently also a member of an improv comedy group.

I have life-long experience in the performing arts -- singing, playing instruments, acting, directing, writing scripts, directing. In my current position as Executive Director of a flourishing community theatre organization and in past positions, I have created marketing material, training videos and manuals, newsletters, newspaper columns and appeared on local media. I'm a trained facilitator, public speaker, and emcee. I'm also just an all-round nice person to work with!
