Voice Description

As a stage actor, I have played diverse roles requiring a refined Victorian voice, voices for a New York cop, a British vicar's wife, a Spanish senorita, and others. My most recent stage role was as "Maria" in the "The Sound of Music" for our local community theater. A recently recorded CD of mine, introductory to a book I wrote (wwwcarepointministryorg/spiritualabuse.html))is most often described as having a "soothing quality." Avid audiobook listeners encouraged me to sign up with Voice123 to pursue that particular field. Currently, I am involved with the Raleigh-Direct branch of AMTC (Actors, Models & Talent Competition).

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I have a minor background in Spanish--can't read or write the language but can pronounce correctly--actually won a "best supporting actress" award as a Spanish speaker. Also lived in India for one year and was exposed to the many flavors of accents there. Last voiceover gig was as a Finnish woman.

My Voice Experience

Speaking experience includes stage acting, classroom teaching, radio and television appearances, and recording a CD to introduce individual sessions for a workbook published October 2007. Singing experience includes musicals, reviews, and opera chorus I have also sung extensively in church (solos and choir). My most recent voiceover job was for a European company hiring character voices for a video presentation.

My Training

Training has been "on-the-job" during acting rehearsals, teaching, speaking to groups, etc. I've gotten important feedback from peers as to what works and what doesn't, and continue to be teachable enough to change in order to suit individual clients. Other than "soothing" or "calm" I would have to say that my next best characteristic as it applies to voiceovers would be "adaptability."
