Voice Description

I am a classically trained mezzo soprano and a teacher. I believe my voice type is warm, sultry, authoritative and inviting. It can also be funny. I have the ability to slip into other languages intonations (i.e. Spanish), singers or actors (Ruby Dee - "New York Life, the Company You Keep". ).

My Voice Experience

Since grade school I have had opportunites to perform in presentations. I have sung professionally in supper clubs and on stage as a solo performer and with a group (Lines, Circles and Angles). I have recorded with the Emotions and with Kent Schneider and the Dukes of Kent.
I currently sing occasionally in my church and wish to expand my horizons and receive more opportunites to "get out there". I keep active in the performing arena by doing karoke whenever possible (with great comments from the patrons of the establishment-with songs like"I'll always love you, Whitney Houston).

My Training

I hold a Master of Education and have taken speech classes which emphasized projection, purpose, voice intonation and presentation of materials. I constantly take professional development workshops(recently attending a reading conference with a presentation by John Lithgow) in conjunction with my teaching.

Additional Skills

I enjoy watching and learning from speakers and performers even through televeision programs, award shows and news reporters I can often identify the actor performing the voiceover (Queen Latifah-Pizza Hut, Keifer Sutherland-Cingular). As a voiceover performer I believe an excellent presentation whether serious or comical can effectively market the service or product as designed.
