Voice Description

My voice is versatile, but my specialty is accents and cartoon characters. I have a knack for imitating, and my list of characters that can imitate well are Al Pacino as Scarface, Eric Cartman, Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno, Gollum, various Monty Python voices, and Family Guy's Stewie and Cleveland. I can read French and Italian with an excellent accent, although I am only conversational in these languages. I am also a natural at Irish and Scottish accents. Basically, if I hear it, I can repeat it.

My Voice Experience

In the midst of the Borat craze, all that I heard everywhere I went was "very nice!", "high five!", and "wa wa wee wa!". Whenever I heard people butchering these phrases with painfully high-pitched voices, I could almost never refrain from coming in and rendering a near-perfect imitation of Borat. Indeed, the general reaction was "Wow, that's amazing!" Similar responses are elicited when I imitate other characters such as Bruno, Eric Cartman, Stewie, Cleveland, and George Bush. Even though I have no job experience or recordings beyond those made for my own amusement, the positive and enthusiastic reaction of the general public to my voices bodes well for any projects that I will pursue in the future.

My Training

I have had no formal training, and I seem to have been born with the gift of imitation. However, I did win an award for best actor at my summer camp for my portrayal of Gollum in a Lord of the Rings play. In addition, for our class reading of Macbeth in my high school AP English class, I had the part of Macbeth himself because my Scottish accent was the best in the class. My formal achievements are modest, but they were done without the aid of formal coaching.

I am a junior at Duke University, and I am currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering. I am a hard worker and I will pursue my goals until I accomplish them; without this drive and work ethic, I would neither have gotten into Duke, nor have been a National Merit Finalist in high school. My dedication certainly carries over into my voice acting, and will support my career as well as my gift for voices does.
