Voice Description
I have grown proficient at a wide variety of voice talents over the years. My normal voice has been complimented often for its even, reassuring, non-threatening tone. I am also well-known among friends and family as a good mimic, though I believe my greatest talent lies in the number of dialects and characters I can affect onto my regular mid-western American accent - British ("cultured", Cockney, or Scottish and variants within), Australian, Hispanic, Germanic, French, animated styles (goofy, cute, "small animal", evil villain, dumb henchman), etc. I enjoy testing myself with new challenges as well.

My Voice Experience
This may be embarrassing to admit, but here goes: I have done my greatest amount of training in character-type voice-overs by reading comic books out loud. There, I've said it. I guess the reason for this is that it gives me the chance to work through a wide variety of voices (ranging from the clean-cut, thundering superhero to the gravelly loner, and from the big dumb brute to the maniacally crazed evil genius). I also play a lot of video games (yes, I'm a bit of a geek) and have grown to notice the difference between really good and really (awfully, terribly) bad voice-acting.
My Training
Four years of high school choir, in a large group good enough to reach the top ten of a national competition (the prize being a chance to sing in Washington, DC's Kennedy Center) gave me the basics of tonal control and discipline. My bachelor's degree in communications taught me about the hows and whys of visual, vocal and non-verbal expression, including (most importantly to me) the importance of voice tone and inflection to intended meaning. Eight years on the sales floor of a major retail chain put into practice what I was learning in the communications courses. And a recent stint as a telephone collections agent told me how important it is to convey emotion through one's voice, since it is all you really have to work with in that environment. I have also grown proud of my ability to leave a clear, friendly and informative voice message on a number of answering machines - and to tune it as necessary for different situations.

Additional Skills
As mentioned above, I love comic books and video games, so anything fantasy- or action-themed will easily spark my interest. I am also an avid sports fan (go Broncos, Rockies and A's!) and a lover of anything automotive.
