Voice Description
My voice is flexible. My background is in television news, so it has something of a newsy sound to it, but I can do characters, which I love to perform. I grew up in the South and have New Orleans roots, so Southern/Cajun accents are a snap for me. I'm also capable of producing other European/English accents. My strength is definitely more toward the documentary side of voice-overs, but I'm willing to work on any project.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
Southern - I've lived in the South all my life, so I know what a southern boy sounds like. Cajun-I was born in New Orleans and I know some great Boudreaux jokes. Australian-crikey! I couldn't believe it when I heard that Steve Irwin was done in by a sting-ray. British-my wife loves it when I pretend to be James Bond. Pirate-garrrrhhhhh!!!! Thar be treasonous talk aboard me ship and me and me trusty saber'll put a quick end to it, I say. Midwestern - I can do a straight-up midwestern tone for documentary purposes.
My Voice Experience
I was in the television news business for ten years, before getting out to "get a real job" in 1994. I got back into journalism in 2002 with my current job at the Asheville Citizen-Times in Asheville, NC. I produce four weekly podcasts for the paper, co-host one of them and provide the voice-over talent for the intro/close on all four. I also do narration for video projects and have done voice-over work for various projects that include short documentaries, promos and commercials.
My Training
I graduated from Louisiana State University in 1984 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. I worked as a sportscaster/sports reporter till 1994 when left broadcasting to pursue other interests. I've also done play-by-play for radio/webcasts.
My Studio Equipment
My office studio is equipped with a Samsom C01 Studio Condensor mic patched through a Mackie studio mixer. I can create a file in any format desired by the client and uploaded via FTP or burned onto CD sent via courier. If this does not sound sufficient, there are a couple of professional studios in the Asheville, NC, area that I would be able use to suit the client's needs.
