Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I have 'no accent' in North America but can touch upon various cultures. That is 'soft accents' (European, British, Mexican) and various reginal accents in Canada and the US.
I can preform a thicker accent within the context of a 'character performance'. Example: cartoon, audio play or book:
English, Irish, German, Mexican.
The same with regional accents: Thick Jersey, 'Bronx', Newfoundland, New England, Georgia Drawl.
My Voice Experience
Most recordings were done in our in-house studio and were of the 'standard corporate narration' Variety. Mostly complimentary were the extreme lack of negative (even the subjective 'it didn't suit my taste) response.
When going for a voice on one project I went for the 'sad dejected character voice and was pleased to hear I sound like a mix of "Eyore" from 'Winnie the Pooh' and Goliath from the old 'Davey and Goliath' animated children's show. These were my very inspirations for the character.
Currently though my resume is admitedly thin as I have been working the other side of the mic. I have been working writing copy and busying myself in radio promotion.
I have also been honey my sales skills to run this as a successful business as I am now devoting much of my time to it.
My Training
Fanshawe College: Multi-media with training script/copy writing, engineering/sound production, television (both side of the camera.
Radio: BX93 and CJBK Talk Radio in London. Promotions/copy writing.
Doug Jeffery, Audio Video: (my own company in the '80's & 90's. This included Audio editing, performance, video production, Scripting as well as hiring other talent and overseeing all aspect of the production and budget.
My Studio Equipment
My Studio: In a state of flux! Currently a Rode NT1-A mic with an ART Tube amp. The computer system I built and features Adobe Audition. I can record via USB or do it the 'old fashion way'. I have a small music/sound FX library but do not promote it until I get a larger selection .
Additional Skills
I have many transferable skills that enhance my performance. I can read cold in a linear fashion but prefer time to mark the script for pauses and breathing.
My English and communication skills are very good. That is I understand direction and don't stumble over words or mispronounce them.
With my Internet consulting I have dealt with many people in may specialized fields so I am at home with learning new words and jargon.
