Hi, I’m Dorian Taylor. Pleased to “meet” you. Here's a bit about me and my voices:
As an AAA/Alt-Rock radio DJ a few years back, it was my job to sound intense/punk, bored, snarky/bratty or sexy, depending on the music I was playing and what our radio ad clients wanted. Fun fact: My on-air name was “Sara Nevada” because my GM thought it would be funny to name a rock DJ in a college town after a beer.
As an NPR-Classical radio DJ I created a warm, smooth tone and trained myself to use good diction — great for narration and e-learning.
More vocal dimensions…
Five years ago, I joined Toastmasters and rose to the highest level of Distinguished Toastmaster (advanced public speaker). I train and entertain audiences big and small on topics like leadership, business, and personal development, and tell stories about things like burning hard-boiled eggs, camping fails, and being chased by black widow spiders. The voices I’ve developed from this experience include the teacher/coach/guide, the energetic and confident leader, the wry, teasing, dramatic, quick-to-laugh storyteller, and several characters and accents.
I am a real live mom™ with 20 years experience doing every kind of “mom voice.” Kids fighting in the car on a road trip get “scary mommy,” while tearful children (including the big ones) get the calm, soothing, crooning tones that let them know everything is going to be OK.
My nearly 20 years of marketing, promotion and web/multimedia design include directing creative teams, which developed my “let’s get down to business” voice — crisp and authoritative, but not “drill sergeant.”
One of the first things you’ll notice about me, is my “have fun and get it done right” attitude. I have also been a voice buyer in the past, so I know your pain! I am versatile, take direction well, and am committed to working with you to give you exactly what you need.
Please give my demo a spin and let’s talk! Need a custom demo? It would be my pleasure. I look forward to hearing from you.
