Voice Description

I've always aimed for the theater of copy- paint pictures with sound.

For straight copy, I like to give a sound of power and credibility. Warm, deep, and dramatic- but real. For narrations and presentations I focus on believability and accessibility.

For comedy- I use everything I've got to make you see the character and situation. I believe in the ACTING of voice acting.

My Voice Experience

I've been a broadcaster for 27 years. My first job came 8 days after my 16th birthday. Since then, I've voiced literally thousands of projects- spots, presentations, promos, even radio drama. And I wrote a majority of them myself.

I believe that if you are going to do great VO, it gives you a much better understanding of how to voice the copy if you understand what went into writing it. VO artists' stock and trade are words- knowing how to write them helps you to know how to speak them.

My Training

I've always been big into acting. I've been a broadcaster for a long time, but also I've acted in several productions, been in an improv group, and done stand-up comedy.

Additional Skills

There's hardly a single aspect to audio production that I haven't done professionally at least once in my career.

Now that I'm independent and own my own company, I understand even more how the business and the goals of the client are what matters.

I always strive to give vocally the best I've got, but I don't think that's good enough. You can be the best voice in the world, but if it doesn't accomplish the goals of the client, then what have you got?
