My Voice Experience
Don's professional broadcasting career started in 1971 as a disc jockey on a little-known FM station in the Houston area, KLYX.
In 1975 he moved to KPRC-AM, a news-talk station, anchoring noon and afternoon-drive newscasts as well as filling-in occasionally on a few of the talk shows.
It wasnt long and he added production and operations manager to his responsibilities there.
Voicing commercials while a news anchor is usually taboo in broadcasting, but upper management made an exception in Don's case because of his versatility as a "do-everything" kind of guy.
Through the years at KPRC radio, Don made a lot of friends at the many production facilities around Houston recording voiceovers. Writer's, producer's & directors knew that when they hired him to do their narrations or commercials, they could be confident knowing that the job would be done the way they wanted it, in the shortest amount of time.
In 1993 KPRC radio was sold and Don felt it was the perfect time to pursue a freelance career, something he had wanted to do for quite some time.
As the voice of KPRC-TV, Randalls grocery stores, The Mattress Firm, The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and others, the timing couldnt have been better.
On-camera, Don made a name for himself with Houston television viewers as morning anchor and traffic reporter on the NBC and Fox affiliates. He continues to be cast in industrial, instructional and informative videos across the region.
Don Armstrong has also enjoyed a freelance writing career that includes his popular auto reviews in five regional magazines including Katy, Sugar Land, Cy-Fair, Bay Area and Prime Living Magazines.
