I have been the Master of Ceremonies for two Scottish festivals, the Central Florida Scottish Highland Games and the Dunedin Highland Games since 1996, which included outdoor announcing and MC duties for receptions.
I was an entertainer at EPCOT and created a Scottish character from 1996, who in character told stories, tickled ribs with jokes, played the bagpipes.
I have used that character in two ads, one for Clear Channel radio and High Country Radio. (can give references)
I have been the MC for special festivals at EPCOT (Walt Disney World).
I have done work for my college radio station, WPRK Rollins College.
I was the music director of the RTC Bluejacket Chorus for the U.S. Navy
I have a BA in Business Administration with as minor in music from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida.
I was in the artist training class and member of the Central Florida Light Opera, doing various solo roles.
My voice over training is from the many years of devoted listening of radio and TV. Many of my characters were inspired by great character actors and radio personalities.
Microphone: ADK A6
Preamp: Steinberg UR12
Software: Audacity, Reaper, Cubase, Tracktion 5
I have sent audio files to WPRK Rollins College, Clear Channel and High Country Radio. All accepted the files as broadcast-ready.
It is not easy to pinpoint when I wanted to record voices, but early TV and radio fascinated me. I love my Scottish heritage and I am quite familiar with it, thus my Scots voice. I was a musician at EPCOT, and created the character.
I do other dialects...English "proper" and "Cockney", Irish and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
I was influenced as a lad by traditional announcers, and that remained with me. Clyde McLean of WBTV Charlotte, Bill Stamper and Jim Turner of WDBO Orlando, Mike Harvey...I could go on and on.
As a singer I learned to act, and this led to the creation of more voices.
I would be able to adapt to just about any voice challenge.
I write my own scripts...yet I respect the scripts I'm given.
I love being an announcer, and I love my characters. And I would love to accept any challenge.
