Voice Description

My on-air radio voice is warm, witty and often wryly clever, like Harry Shearer hosting a classical music show. My strongest ability is improvising and all of my show I read public service announcements from scripts written by the station.I can do impressions of regional dialects and accents like "Minnesota Norwegian Bachelor Farmers" referred to in MPR's Prairie Home Companion, and country accents commonly found in the Nashville-based country music industry. I have a great "1970s late night FM DJ" voice and an Northern English accent. Being a college lecturer, I have developed a straightforward informative voiceover personality that is perfect for presentation narrations, books on tape or commercial voice over jobs.

My Voice Experience

I am a featured on-camera commentator on the Paul McCartney DVD "The Space Within Us". I produced my own radio show last year on the KTST-FM internet show "Kaleidoscope Radio Magazine" called Tone Bath. Based on rock music pioneers, I improvised all of the between-song voice over work and read 2 or 3 PSA spots on each show. I produced each 30 minute show in one live studio take, but I eventually switched to producing the entire show and pre-recorded commercials in my own recording studio.

My Training

I have a masters in music composition from University of Michigan and received two consecutive Fulbright Scholarships to study music composition in Poland. I am a recording engineer and music producer. I teach recording techniques at Orange Coast College where I designed and built a state-of-the-art digital recording studio. I spend 6 years in Nashville engineering dozens of music recording projects and was chief audio engineer on the General Jackson Showboat. I have recorded countless voices and musicians that have often been for my own original music. My journalism experience includes 4 years writing a column called "As Time Goes By" for MusicBIZ magazine and was a contributing writer for the book "Going Pro - A Musician's guide to the Music Industry"

I own my own digital recording facility and it is perfectly set up for voice over recordings. I can make Voice over audition recordings that can be submitted to anybody anywhere on the internet in MP3 format and finished productions can be sent overnight on CD format. I can write and produce any style of music that would accompany voice over recordings using myself as the voiceover artist. My productions would be professionally created and can be used in any voice over work, including podcasting, greetings voice mail, messages on hold, on-hold music, messages for voice mail, radio voices, commercials, professional presentations, public service announcements and TV and film voice over jobs. I am very adept at working with Power Point and have created dozens of Power Point shows that I use in the college courses I teach on the history of Rock Music and Music Appreciation. I can produce Powerpoint shows that include voice over talent and even my own music for a client if necessary and can render them into a DVD here in my own production facility.
