The game stars a character by the name of Max Payne, who was a private detective in New York City, who was set up, and framed, to have people believe he killed his partner, his wife, and his child. Over the course of the game, the character slowly turns from a stand up cop, to a gritty, gunslinging madman, who's only goal left in life is to seek revenge on the people who wronged him.
This particular quote is when Max speaks to himself about ignorance, and how even knowing a small ammount of knowledge, leaves you in a better position, than those who know nothing.
