OK, here's the short version: I attended a 5,000+ member church in Detroit (Greater Grace Temple) & this gentleman & I spoke to one another every week after service. One Sunday this same guy said something like, "We speak to each other every week & I've been meaning to ask you if you'd be interested in modeling for me." SOOOO, after I laughed in his face, I took his card & promised to check out his agency & follow-up with him. I did this & to my surprise Juan & Campau Advertising were totally legit (ads in Essence Magazine & all over locally). I accepted his offer to model in a publication for Perry Drugs; we talked on the phone a few times & Juan said he liked my voice & that I should come to the studio one day. I took Juan up on his invitation & as a result, I had the undeniable pleasure of working on some major media campaigns where I provided voice over talent for Campau Advertising & Don Coleman & Associates. Some of these voiceovers were for Perry Drugs; Peoples Drugs; Hooks Drugs & K-Mart and were aired nationally. The music was arranged by gospel artists such as The Winans; Darius Brooks & Fred Hammond.
You can truly call me a product of "On The Job Training!" I watched, listened & learned & with the support of people that saw (heard) something in me; I was blessed to be involved in some great projects. Juan Roberts, Walter Kearney & Paul Allen were all my source of education & each of them have parlayed their expertise into fabulous careers in the "industry"
I now reside in Chicago but every year I return to my church in Detroit to commentate the annual fashion show for my former choir. I also commentate fashion shows that my employer has for the United Way.
