Voice Description
Can sound warm and smooth for narrations; upbeat for commercials; clear and approachable for presentations; soft and caring for "mom" parts; funny and nasal for character parts; full and authoritative for educational/academic media; lilting and romantic for commerical work or book readings. I sing in perfect tune, with a rich alto-mezzo soprano voice, and I speak with excellent diction. My voice is full, versatile, and always easy on the ears! I have a voice talent that can be applied to television voice overs, radio voices, voicemail messages, on hold music, on hold messages, voice acting, animation, and more. You name it, I'll make it work!

My Voice Experience
Most of my singing in recent years has been done to please my four children--and the many other kids whom I teach at church. But I have actually done some on-air radio broadcasting. And in my youth, I won regional and statewide competitions in Virginia for speaking and for prose reading. (My emotional passage from a Moss Hart play even caused one judge to break down in tears!) As a switchboard operator in Italy in the mid 80's, I was frequently told by callers that I was their favorite. They said they liked the sound of my voice--and you will, too!
My Training
I have a B.A., with high honors, in English Writing from George Mason University. Following my husband from base to base, and then to civilian work, it took me about nine years--and three states--to get my degree. A writing degree teaches you a lot about "voice" on paper, but extensive travel and study teach you even more about the way people speak, sing, and sound in many parts of the country. To that end, most everything I have learned about inflection, intonation, cadence, and pitch I learned from all my friends, colleagues and teachers from Virginia to Italy, Mississippi to Maryland, and beyond! (And, of course, I've been a natural mimic and "ham" since the day I was born; that certainly didn't hurt!)

Additional Skills
I've been an administrative assistant, a live-remote radio reporter, a switchboard operator in Italy, a cashier at a health food store, a public relations professional at one of the nation's top public universities, the President of the Women's Network at Virginia Tech, a Sunday school teacher and--best of all--mom and teacher to the four best kids on earth. You will find me to be talented, hardworking, motivated, adaptable, cooperative, fair, and genuinely nice (and don't forget modest! ha ha). Working with me is an experience most people want to continue and/or repeat.
