Dean Hacohen

wry, smart, non-announcery, guy next door

Voice Description

Non-announcery, wry and dry. But with a touch of warmth.
"Real" without affectation. "Presence" without being "artificial." Natural guy who, as many copywriters say, reads VO copy as if he wrote it himself.
Understands the art of subtlety in inflection, as well as the art of "timing."
This voice-over talent detested over-the-top, announcery voices for so long, he started recording his own voice for his award-winning ad agency's own commercials, which kicked off his voice-over career.

My Voice Experience

I introduced the KIA automobile to America in the mid-nineties when the new import's ad agency was looking for a "real guy voice" in his thirties that had a presence. The agency found me by tracking down a voice-over I'd done on an award-winning spot for a health care company the year before.
From there, it was all referrals. Blue Cross, GMC trucks, Saab, Verizon, JFK Museum, Careerbuilder.com, Beringer wines, Office.com, and a long list of national and local advertisers.

My Training

I'm an advertising writer by trade. Which is why I "get" how things should be read. The inflections, the pauses, the art of keeping it real-- without sounding dull.
Not all everyday-sounding guys poke through.
That's the trick.
