Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Dean's broadcasting school training and personal experience has all but erased any trace of an accent. But it all depends on what's needed and who he's around. Although raised in the metropolitan NY/NJ area, if there is any kind of accent, I've been told there could be a hint of mid-Western or Southern mixed in.

My Voice Experience

Dean spent several years as a disc jockey,newscaster, and doing voice over work for commercials both in Northern California and on the outer edge of the NY metro market in Central NJ. He played Chewbacca in KMPC's "Radio version of Star Wars" that was featured on the Sonny Melendrez show just after the first Star Wars movie premiered in 1978 . On the phones as a telemarketer, Dean sold magazines for 6 years. And since early in 2006, Dean has been a customer service representative for a company that handles calls for UPS.

My Training

Dean was one of the last graduates from the Don Martin School of Communications in Hollywood, CA which was the same school that produced the likes of Bob Barker, Wink Martindale, and Don Imus. Dean always wanted to be "the announcer guy" having been inspired by the likes of Jack Wagner, whose rich smiling sound will forever be connected to Disney and Pete Stacker, whose famed "Real Men Of Genius" ads keep everyone listening. But Dean was also inspired by the low tones of Don Pardo, Gary Owens, and even Leslie Neilsen, so there's hint of fun in his tone. Dean's voice is similarly friendly and distinctive.

My Studio Equipment

Dean right now has a Gigaware wraparound USB headset/mike for his Insignia D400, 2.8 ghz Pentium 4 PC with 1 gig of ram. Dean has a decent library of music and sound effects available to him and resources to add backround using Audacity and Cool Edit that will clean things up.

Additional Skills

Dean can produce WAV and MP3 files, clean or with background sound effects or music. In his travels, he's heard and read enough bad copy to produce copy that will get the point across and SELL the product or idea for you. Dean has a natural "broadcast quality" voice.
