Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
"Audiobooks are a love of mine since I read constantly," he says. "Always was a fan of the old radio shows. So I'm always listening in my head as to what that character looks and sounds like."
With that in mind, he uses a variety of different character voices suitable for fictional material: quirky, mannerly, dramatic, and dark.
"On the dark end, it's reminiscent of a villain. Being a comic book fan, I have half the work done for me as far as how the character looks. I'm always practicing the voice I think that character would have. I always fit in rather easily into the villain or more of an intense hero."
He can perform a few different dialects ranging from street, to southern, to Jamaican.
"I'm currently working on my British and Australian accents. For anyone who really listens to others that speak it, they're really not the same."
My Voice Experience
P.R.E.Z.'s background and experience in the music industry spans over ten years. Seven of those years was as a radio DJ on a radio station in Toledo, OH called (YES FM/WYSZ). He produced and hosted a music program called Zero Gravity. It was a two hour program showcasing the best hip hop and techno music from music artists all around the globe. He produced all radio spots, intro and outros for the show. In addition, he created radio ads, PSAs, and commercials during his tenure with the station.

My Studio Equipment
P.R.E.Z. works with a variety of equipment including Windows based DAW Cubase, one of the big four of audio sequencers in the professional audio industry. In addition, he uses Studio Projects and MXL mics and has access to Blue products. All of this is run through a Presonus Eureka preamp.
For music production, he uses a variety of tools, his workhorses being his Roland XV-5080, EMU Mo Phatt, and Xtreme Lead 1 sound modules. In addition, he uses the Roland SRV-3030 Digital Reverb and the software synth Imposcar.
"Many people like to say you need high end gear to top notch music and voice overs," says P.R.E.Z.
"The fact is, you can make top notch music with some rather inexpensive hardware and software these days."
P.R.E.Z. has spent the last eight years building and refining his studio along with his skills so that the environment is conducive to creating the best results possible.
"Knowing what to do with what you have is a totally different story and speaks volumes to the individual running the equipment. I've heard terrible projects that were recorded on high end gear and fantastic projects on what's considered low end. It's not just about the equipment. It's the skill of the person using it. It's all about the end result. If it sounds like junk, who cares that you used high end gear? It's still junk."
