My Voice Experience
As an eleven year old, I could often be found in my parents downstairs den, sitting with my fathers two tape decks, a microphone and a headset. I would emerge hours later with a cassette tape containing 15 minutes of skits, mini-shows and commercials. As a father now in my 30s I still pursue that same passion as a voice over artist. Over the years, Ive done many things to strengthen my vocal and acting skills. As a college student, I was involved in theater productions such as The Music Man and Amal and the Night Visitors. Notably, I had a major roll (Perchik) in Fiddler On the Roof and played the male lead (Michael) in the two person production I DO! I DO! As a choral music education major, my vocal wit and technical skills were furthered by studying and singing a vast variety of music. By performing Cole Porter, Mozart, Verdi and more I grew attuned to the nuances of vocal expression, inflection and articulation. Even now, as an elementary music teacher, I draw on these backgrounds to present lessons with a variety of impersonations and characterizations. Changing my delivery from an Austrian baker to Dr. Phil keeps the lessons lively and engaging. Its the joy of the voice that has made me who I am, and the same drives my career as a voice over artist.
