I have a deep, warm, friendly. bass/baratone voice. I began my voice talent career in broadcasting in 1972. Later, I became the "Voice of the National Weather Service" at WSFO, Columbia for 8 years. For my radio voice I use accent neutral North American English. Because I was born and raised in the South, I can do a natural southern accent, either "man on the street/urban" or "redneck/country". I have natural acting ability which enables me to vary voice expression, intonation, inflexion and modulation required for a given production. Having studied French for 3 years, I am quite comfortable with French words and phrases. I am especially interested in doing Christian organization related narrations. I can also do commercials, both "laid back" and "high energy" as well as sped up disclaimer tags. I can do voice-overs for multi-media presentations, announcements for department stores, theaters, theme parks, museums, message on hold, telephone greetings and instructions, corporate presentations for conventions, training, Power Point, podcasts, websites or other video presentation voice overs. I can do voice over acting to overdub foreign language films to english. I am on staff of a national corporation reading for online middle school and high school curriculum. In addition I do the announcing and post engineering for a national radio program heard weekly on more than 200 stations. My education is in electronics engineering. I understand the techical aspects of audio. I have extensive experience in audio recording and editing and perform these tasks daily. I can provide fast turnarounds with high quality sound delivered in most formats of audio files.

My Voice Experience

I have performed duties both behind the microphone as an engineer and in front of the microphone with voice overs, documentary narrations, and station announcements. I've also had 15 years experience in Radio announcing.

My Training

My education is in electronic engineering.. My voice over skills come naturally from my involvement in radio and television production for over 30 years and my natural acting ability.

My Studio Equipment

I regularly use an AKG large diaphram Condensor microphone with double pop filter and 6db attenuation connected to phantom power, then directly into my computer. I have software providing the flexibility to enhance and modify any recording. I record initially in 16 or 24 bit WAV,(or AIFF)44.1K (can also do higher resolution if requested), then after editing and level or dynamics processing, I convert to the specified type of file. For commercials I reduce or eliminate breaths and filter "plosives" (popping p's, t's) making certain there won't be anything for automatic gain control circuits to exaggerate and consequently lower the quality. If the completed file is small enough, I can email it. If not, I will upload to an FTP site, either mine or the client's or mail a cd. I'm capable of doing complex productions with mixed voices and effects if the client provides those items. I do not possess licensed music or sound effects at the present time.

Additional Skills

I am a musician. I was a bi-vocational church music director for 20 years. During much of that time, I also owned a recording studio producing record albums. I'm totally experienced in all aspects of audio recording, processing and editing. I'm particularly skilled in editing music selections to fit particular time frames. Currently, I do editing and VO for a program heard on more that 200 stations across the country and internationally.
