I have recently returned to the field of voice acting and, in recent months, I have auditioned for and been cast in several voice-acting projects. I have been cast as Sir Ector in an Arthurian internet production, as Lex Luthor in a comic-related project, and as three different characters in a manga-related project, including a grand-father, a street bum, and a flamboyant, gay night-club owner. I produced my auditions and lines for those projects myself, in my home studio.
I got my start in radio in the 1980s. I began in college as a news reader. Once out of school, I first learned basic news and weather reads, then basic radio DJ skills at a small-town radio station. I move on to an regular week-end air shift at another state, before working my way up to my own Morning Show, where I produced various on-air skits and bits, as well as commercials and promos.
I am a college and law school graduate. I have a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree, and a Juris Doctor. I received training in voice over work and voice acting while working professionally in radio in the 1980s. I am applying the training I received using reel-to-reel tape and razor blades to the 2qst century world of digital sound production.
I am currently using a Yeti USB microphone and the Audacity sound program on a Windows 7 PC. The Audacity program has a great deal of flexibility, including the ability to add compression and equalization, to apply noise reduction, and to include various sound effects (including reverb, filtering, and distortion if needed).
In addition to voice work, I used to write commercial copy for local businesses at the radio stations at which I worked. I also wrote and produced various skits for use on my morning radio show. I am also a writer, a blogger, and a lawyer, and have developed a command of the English language that enables me to make an argument, close a deal, and turn a phrase, with no waiting.
